Did you know that there are times when we experience hail in Pensacola? It’s hard to
believe, but as recently as June 2023 we have had reports of hail of up to 1.75” in size in
Cantonment causing hail damage to roofs. In Northwest Florida and in various locations
throughout Escambia County, hail is possible!
How often does anyone think to go up on their roof after a storm to assess any damage that could have occurred. Do you even know what to look for? Hail damage can be especially tricky to identify if you don’t know what roof damage from hail looks like, and even harder if you didn’t even realize that hail happened in your area.
It’s good to stay on top of your roof health. In most cases, you only have one or two years after a noted storm to have your insurance company cover any damage caused by hail, or even wind and wind driven rain (remember Hurricane Sally?). Of course, the sooner you deal with any roof damage from hail, the better. Hail damage to a roof can reduce the life of roofing shingles and your roof overall, which is why it is important to inspect your roof and if need be, have the roof replaced through a claim with your insurance company.
